Awesome Merchandise: Art Prints Review
Last week I ordered my first batch of prints from Awesome Merchandise. While I love traditional giclée prints and will definitely be ordering a set for special editions, I wanted to find an everyday print service for customers that do not want the heavy weight archival paper. I’ve heard a lot about Awesome Merchandise and have been excited to use them to print my latest piece.
I ordered a set of 10 A4 prints and 10 A5 prints. I chose the smooth white matte paper, but they also offer a recycled white paper with a textured finish which I would like to try in the future. I think it could be nice for adding a watercolour type texture to the prints! The prints are 300 GSM so they’re pretty heavy weight which is great.
This is how the box looked when it arrived. The prints were packaged in a thick plastic mailbag which nicely protected them from water damage. They are stored inside a cardboard box with some tissue paper for extra padding. It would have been nice to see the prints in some kind of plastic wallet for a little extra protection, but the prints arrived in perfect condition so I don’t have any doubts any them being well-protected.
Here are the prints! I fell in love with the A5 mini prints - I’ve never ordered them before, but they look so lovely and full of detail even though they are small. The artwork colours were replicated perfectly (which can be difficult to achieve, I have ordered from previously print services who majorly oversaturated the colours!). They are pretty thick and the paper feels nice. It’s matte but it has a slight sheen. Of course, it’s not the same quality as a giclée or a more expensive paper type, but as an affordable option these are absolutely great. I’m looking forward to ordering from this service again!
