New Styles: Minimalism & Lines
Recently I’ve had a passion for combining traditional watercolour techniques with contemporary abstract lines.
I am also a designer and my design work is quite contemporary, so it’s lovely to bring the two styles together and create something that feels fresh.
In this piece I decided to focus on the hair, reducing it to just simple lines. I’ve been starting to use gouache and it worked really well for the hair, which I wanted to look more opaque than watercolour. The colour is gorgeous - it’s Rose Tyrien from the Winsor and Newton Designers Gouache collection.
This is a fun illustration style that I’m really enjoying! I’m looking forward to making similar pieces with different colours and shapes.
On a side note, do you think this piece should be a print?
